Hi Mythos community !

I am excited to share that Faraday has submitted an on-chain democracy proposal to expand the number of permisionless collators in the active set on Mythos from 6 to 7.

This proposal aims to increase decentralization, resilience, and participation in the network. By opening space for an additional collator, we strengthen Mythos against centralization risks and create more opportunities for experienced operators to contribute.

As a Polkadot Lead Ambassador, I have been deeply committed to the Substrate and Polkadot ecosystems for years. My contributions span across: Polkadot, Kusama, Paseo Network, System chains as well as rollups like Bifrost, Frequency, Tanssi, and others.

For over three years, I have worked as a validator and collator node operator in the Polkadot ecosystem. During this time, I have consistently demonstrated my ability to perform secure and reliable node operations, with no slashing events.

 

**Mythos-Specific Operations**

I have been actively following the Mythos project and have full confidence in its long-term vision. To support the network, I am running a fully synchronized Mythos node, visible on telemetry. This node operates on a bare-metal server hosted at Netcup’s Nuremberg data center, which provide highly reliable infrastructure with redundant power, cooling, and network systems (Tier III standards), continuous 24/7 monitoring and robust physical security and low-latency performance with no single point of failure. This setup ensures strong reliability and stability, making it well-suited for mission-critical blockchain operations.

 

**Why This Proposal Matters**

Currently, there are only 6 permisionless active collators. By increasing this number to 7, we:

* Enhance network decentralization
* Improve resilience against potential failures
* Allow dedicated operators like myself to participate
* Demonstrate the effectiveness of on-chain governance in shaping network evolution

This proposal is not only about technical parameters — it is about strengthening Mythos as a community-driven project within the Polkadot ecosystem.

number of running collators could be higher than this figure. Aside from that edge case,
there should be no other way to have more candidates than the desired number.

The origin for this call must be the `UpdateOrigin`.
